Western media took on Poland recently during the celebration of the independence day. And a few banners “Shocked” western media outlets. CNN, WashingtonPost, The Guardian and other far-left “pundits” were quick to label the protest “far right”, white nationalist (like this could have any negative connotation…) or even “Nazi”…
These banners were
a little barely provocative. But like any good rhetoric they are meant to sparkle emotional reactions with very reasonable claims. The 2 banners in polish are saying “Stop islamisation” and “Poland for Polish people, Polish People for Poland”. I haven’t found any images on the web about “white Europe” or “Islamic holocaust” (fake news?). Anyhow, I don’t feel the left would have any issue saying ” Black Africa” or “Islamic middle-east”… so “White Europe” is just as reasonable.
But the real take-away here is that (Knowing quiet a few Polish people), Poles don’t appreciate being labelled this way. Especially when they are completely aware about what is going on in Western Europe (and America). And this poor handling of the situation by Western Outlets is going to be a boost for the nationalist (and even maybe white ethnocentrism) movement within Poland. Another nail in the coffin of the EU.
